Jeremy Blair, a 26-year-old from Utah, was arrested March 10 for burglary and criminal mischief, after his father spotted him on surveillance footage broadcast in a local news report, according to KSL.

Woods Cross Police Det. Adam Osoro told the TV station that Blair, a Kaysville resident, allegedly robbed $6,500 worth of equipment in a March 6 robbery, causing $2,500 worth of damage to the store’s door and displays.

The big break in the case came at breakfast.

Blair and his father were eating a morning meal in their living room when they saw the news broadcast.

The elder Blair recognized his son, persuaded him to surrender, and drove him to the police station, theDeseret News reported.

Starwest Computers owner Josh Holly told KSL that the burglary was the fourth such incident in the last three years. That prompted the installation of new security equipment, including the cameras that captured footage of Blair and an accomplice who remains unidentified.

When Holly was told of Blair’s father’s actions, he told the Deseret News, “I think that’s pretty awesome. Being a parent myself, that’s what I would do.”
