Mass Failure As NECO GCE Results Released

For the fifth year running the National Examinations Council (NECO) has recorded another mass failure in the November/December Senior School Certificate Examinations (SSCE).

According to the just released result for the 2011 examaination, only 10 percent out of the 110,724 candidates that sat for the examinations scored credit and above in the core subjects of English language, Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Geography.

This was made known on Wednesday by NECO’s registrar, Professor Promise Okpala while releasing the results at the council headquarters in Minna, the Niger state capital.

Professor Okpala however noted that there was an improvement in the result recorded for Mathematics.

41 percent of the students scored credit, pass and above as compared to the 17 percent recorded in the same subject last year.

It is troubling that at a time when the nation is facing decay in its moral standard with the rise of militancy, despite religious dedication, only 5 percent scored credit, pass and above in Islamic studies while less than one percent  scored credit pass and above in Christian religious studies.

Another disturbing feature of the results table made available to Channels television is that there was a 40 percent reduction in the number of candidates that sat for the examination in 2011.

According to the registrar, the fall can also be attributed to the determination of the council to eradicate examination malpractice in all its examinations.

  1. Out of displeasures have I written to you my reader. Please never believe it is mass failure in sense of incompetence of student. Something went wrong somewhere probably in the marking unit. Yes. I have never done malpractice any of my O level exams, so they shouldn’t talk of malpractice. Many of Nigerian student are good and capable. Now I know that neco is an exploitation, because it is not the amount of candles you burnt that determines your success. They should consider Jamb in terms of efficiency and sincerity. You may want me to prove if i know what i’m saying, yes I show it to you that many Nigerian student can do it, if not that something went wrong somewhere

  2. Neco gce again with mass failure…..what did neco pple want from student?or u pple that on seat now as chairman of neco offical are u all happy as u are releasing failure result every yrs.but think well if ur own children continue write one exam for more than 4yrs.anyway my reader try to avoid neco exam becos they are not encourage our student and poor people.

  3. Mass failure in NECO/GCE exam sited in Minna, Niger state of all places by failed ex dictator president IBB. Relocate NECO to Ile Ife or Kaduna and you will get major improvement.Remember Abacha failed Captain to Major promotion exams several times and IBB used arms and ammunition to force the promotion panel to lift Abacha – who later terrorized Nigerians and stole all the DOLLARS,POUNDS/GOLD in CBN.Shame on IBB.

  4. Neco is only good in extorting money from student who the clearly know are desperate for those papers….I CALL THE UNEDUCATED TRYING TO MARK WHAT IS WRITTEN BY AN EDUCATED….what do you expect. I know this will always turn out this way. Why is it that a student that pass waec can fail neco as if he did not enter the hall. I believe the keyboard of their system only have the letter E and F. I will not say the government should do something because they themselves are not Better either. I just pity the students that are victim of this great corruption in the academic sector. GOD WILL SEE YOU THROUGH.

  5. Why attribute poor turn out to malpractice? Why not attribute it to lack of confidence on the examination and the co ordinating body by parents/wards. I for instance never subjected any of my children to NECO examinations and non of them ever engaged in any exam malpractice same with all my friends’ children. MY ADVICE: NECO EXAMINE YOURSELVES.

  6. Neco, gud 2hear such a misguided and untrue craftd story of mass failure.hw do u expct me,a proffesonal Govt and CRS teacher to have f9 in the subjcts i have taught for yearz.NECO GCE,u gave me only 2crdtz while d rest is f9,u gave me credit in maths and Econs when i wrote nothng there and u expct me to believ u guys r nt national fraudsters parading themslvz as examinatn bodies in disguise, luting and renderng pple hoples.jst get prepard 2 loose many more customers dis year and be well equipd 2 face d senate b/c dis isue must be scrutinisd as i am very ready to rewrite d exam in proff.OKPALAS before.i cnt let it go dat way.

  7. Honestly i dnt know what u people want from us, we bruns many candle in other to have good result and at the end of the day u give ur f9 parallel. Remember u too hav children, wil u pray that ur children shd sit for thesame exam many years. Ples stop wasting our time, stop wasting our money, stop wasting our effort. Advice to my fellow studnt ples let stop obtaning noce exam, leave it for them and their family.GOD SEE US THOURH

  8. i was lucky enough dat dey gave me 2 credit in my maths and commerce dat am luking for 2 complete my admission buh u neco gave me f9parallel asid frm maths that am luckin for dey wil mark ur children down in jesus name and suffer eternal suffering.

  9. Neco , I actually don’t know wat to say to u , why is it dat no matter how hard one try you will never oblige ones effort . I knew how hard I prepared , could imagine that I read from night to morning especially on this subject that I’m looking for which is chemistry only for my result to be out with chem f9 , hey f9 is the grade that I can never get till I die.
Neco is it that I didn’t write well or what . I strongly believe that u did this out of sheer wickedness well to God be the glory. Neco have this in mind that since u the hunters have decided to shoot without stopping we the birds will now have to fly without perching .

  10. Dis has turned 2 anoda thing entirely, every year MASS FAILURE, MASS FAILURE. Is it dat Nigeria students’ are not reading? Dat is totally NO, because i believed i read seriously b4 dis exam & my answers 2 ur questions can’t yield me f9 parallel. I want u 2 know dat we struggled 4 d money b4 getting it not dat we robbed a bank, students stop obtaining Neco Gce form because is a fraud. Enough is enough 4 u Neco Gce officers and 2 Nigeria. Stop deceiving us, remember dat u too hv children. 4rm d depth of my mind i say 2 u ”God will pay u back” even 2 ur generation. Amen

  11. But why are u weast ur time yearly on do their exam leave it and find another alternative but we think dey we be encourage but dey are yearly discourage. U nigeria pple if we don’t known were we are going we should known were we are coming, enough is enough on weast time on exam.

  12. The point is that Neco marks exceptionally and that the grades given is not what one have done and as a matter their would be a time when few people like 200 would only be writing the exam because no individual likes wasting his/her money resources. I want to make a suggestion in my discussed points below,
    1. Any time again the neco body exploit our result lets just make a contest and go to their headquarter and fight four right.
    2. The body should engaged only expert markers that are vibrant, competence and well updated enough to be marking students script and not old people who have had their degree in 40yrs ago.
    3. One of the fundamental human right is the ‘right to the court’. Don’t be cheated, a sage says ignorance is not an excues. Go to the court individually and sue them don’t afraid them at all.
    4. Concerning malpractices, not everybody is engaged in the course and that no accredited officiated person in the government would denied of involved in the menance, evil beggets evil. Kudos to WAEC, NABTED BODY because they are really trying. That’s all my point.

GOD BLESS NIGERIAN STUDENTS AND PURNISH EXPLOITERS!!!

  13. Before i thought NECO is the only examiner body established to bring back joy to the face of Nigerians, not knowing that they were corrupt body. I study economics and history with my colliques at college level, we all sat for this NECO exam for further admission into university, alast we are shameful . Can you believe that a professional mathematics student who has won several competition in mathematics was given f9 parallel. NECO is nt more nigerians examination, they were thief, incompetent even creating more burden to Nigeria problem.

  14. Thanks for your out spoken of the mass failure. is it the reason your board is unable to release the result for this little children? i think your board is to be blame for taking up to 5 good months just to mark their candidate script. just release the available paper you have so that the will utilize their result. thak you.
