Former Deputy Governor Of Anambra State Develops Software To Track Criminals

A computer scientist and former deputy governor of Anambra State, Dr. Chinedu Emeka, has developed a computer software that could be used to track criminals and check their activities in the country.

Emeka, who was deputy governor under Governor Chinwoke Mbadinuju’s administration, said he decided to embark on the research and develop the system as criminals were not being punished for offences committed.

Emeka, who just bagged a Phd in computer science from Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, said if criminals were caught and punished, prospective criminals would have a rethink before venturing into crimes.

He said there was a need for a national data base of criminals, such as the one he developed, that would be easily accessible to security agencies in the country.

He called on government and private institutions to patronize the Ivory Towers when seeking for solutions to challenges such as provision of power supply, computer software, alternative raw materials/ enhancement of existing raw materials and staff training.

Emeka called on politicians to always provide funds for universities to carry out research and development in the universities and advocated that energy should be re-channeled towards recognition of excellence in research and development.

He said government and private sector could encourage this by setting out annual prizes for most useful indigenous scientific discoveries, best made Nigeria computer software and most useful implement designed for farming.

  1. Well, a good move, but first of all this guy need to explain to us how this his wonder ‘software’ will work in reality, especially in a jungle where there is 99% darkness and 1% electricity!
Shouldn’t he start with hard/software to produce and distribute electricity before the ones to track so-called ‘unpunished’ criminals?
Talking about the criminals tracking.. Do we really need software to tell us that he and his oga Mbadinuju (Administration), are already tracked as UNPUNISHED CRIMINALS, without the use of any software, but realityware?
Well, we know the real revolutionaries when we see or hear them…

  2. If only d software can b connected thru a world SAT PROTOCOL and can b accessible by all on d internet (so as 2 remove editn b4 comn 2 d limelight – i think u should know wat i mean – corruption), den i wl say it will yield gud fruits. But sincerely speakn, ds man deserved an accolade & d security of ds man is immediately requested bcos he might nt last long dan now.

  3. It’s a good thing to know that we have intelligent politicians. Quite a pleasant suprise that this man rather than go back to the cutthroat politics of Nigeria, decided to go back to sch to improve on himself. More grease to your elbows and may u wax stronger in the ivory tower & more innovative creations. Don’t mind pessimists.

  4. I wonder how much computers and computing that is required to monitor and catch all the criminals and potential criminals in Nigeria – Nigerians by nature are NOT criminals. It is the system that tolerates and criminality that is to blame. How about Ibori and all the Politicians, Civil Servants, Policemen and women, Judiciary,Bankers,, Pastors, Imams etc that are known criminals, the greedy Anambra, Adamawa, Lagos businessmen? Just enforce the existing laws and punish 50% of the criminals and the society will change. It is good news an ex deputy governor has decided to return to academics rather than struggle to remain relevant in politics/senate/Abuja.,

  5. This can work in a country where there is transparency, credibility, respect 4 the nation, accountability and corruption free. U don’t even know dat those criminals are been protected by the people we call our political leaders. Our government is still very busy wit looting corrupt practices. General security of the country is not in their diary 4 now. They will even hunt 4 ur life 4 trying to provide solutions.
