The late MKO Abiola

The late MKO Abiola’s family, including his son and daughter have expressed joy over Jonathan’s decision to rename University of Lagos (UNILAG) as Moshood Abiola University.

Mr. Abdul Abiola, MKO Abiola’s son, said there was nothing wrong with the naming of the university after his father, saying that the family is shocked by the outrage trailing the presidents decision.

Abdul Abiola says the renaming is just one way of honouring and immortalising the late business mogul.

“We are shocked by the reactions trailing this development. My late father believed so much in education.

“He donated money to universities across the nation. Naming a university after him was a well-deserved honour,” he said.

“He should still be given more honours. We see nothing political in this.

“We are happy about it and we are yet to understand the rationale behind people going up in arms over this decision,” he added.

Daughter of the late MKO abiola, Hafsat Abiola-Costello, described the presidents gesture as well deserved.

“It is honour well deserved. We should just remember that his commitment was to end poverty. That was what he was fighting for. It’s honour for him and those who fought with him.” she said

  3. abiolas are not been realistic here. the eagles square or national stadium in abuja woulda been better. abiola wasn’t just a yoruba man, he was a national man. it would be better if he was honoured in the heart of the nation he fought to govern in a free and fair election.

  4. Immortalizing a great Hero isn’t a sin,MKO Abiola was a good man
Jonagoat’s disregard for the Nigerian Constitution can not be overlooked
Jonagoat’s regime is a clear example of a missionless govt,He is an autocrat without sense or ability to make right and productive decisions
His government as brought nothing bt DEAD,POVERTY,INSECURITY,UNEMPLOYMENT,CORRUPTION*no wonder he didn’t say amen to the prayer against corruption in nigeria
You may regard jonagoat as clueless bt I think he’s intelligent,He wakes up very significant morning and gives us new puzzle to solve,we chew on d skinny bone long enough for he to steal into his pocket
Changing the Name of a Brand that as been in existence before his ability to buy a shoe,is one of his many prank,a political move to favour his greedy ambitions, let him look for another toy to amuse himself with
As a great akokite,I stand with my fellow students, lecturers, alumni and the entire university community,we refused to be pushed around like a clueless Entity,It is not a matter of swag or name,It is a matter of continuity, stability and the protect of our great school,a SCHOOL OF FIRST CHOICE and NATIONAL’s PRIDE……………we will not be a victim of jonathan’s visionless administration
Greatest AKOKITES great…..Long Live UNILAG and Rest In Peace our Precious SOFOLUWE
