IGP Moves Against Detention, Harassment Of Innocent Nigerians

THE Acting Inspector General of Police, Mr. Mohammed D. Abubakar, has assured that the police force under his leadership, is working tirelessly to ensure that innocent Nigerians are not detained in cells.

He also said his men would see that Nigerians are not unduly harassed, but ensure that justice and the rule of law reign.

Speaking in Owerri on Thursday during a courtesy visit on Governor Rochas Okorocha at Government House, Owerri, Imo State, he said: “We shall ensure that we stamp out harassment and detention of innocent persons.”

Earlier, Okorocha restated the resolve of his government to partner with the police in combating crime and guaranteeing the security of lives and property.

He urged the IGP to grant approval for the relocation of the state police command headquarters and expressed the state government’s readiness to start a fourth tier of government.
