Bauchi teachers’ commission plans data bank

TO improve the standard of education, the Bauchi Teachers’ Service Commission has concluded an arrangement to establish a data bank .

The Chairman of the commission,  Alhaji Yahaya Baba,  told reporters yesterday that the reason for establishing the data bank was to make all teachers’  operations easy and to have a  genuine number of staff.

Baba expressed dissatisfaction with the attitude of some people who use fake certificates to get employment in the state, saying that records showed that 56 people applied for employment but after a thorough screening only six had genuine credentials.

He explained that the commission had adopted a policy of verifying the certificates of applicants right from the schools they mentioned in their applications.

“It’s very unfortunate that this thing is happening in Bauchi where some people use fake certificates simply to get employment in the teaching line and most of them cannot defend their certificates. But there are very good ones that have attained the retirement age but we still want their services because they are good,” he said.
