GOVERNOR Rochas Okorocha of Imo State has directed that an interdenominational church service be held in the state in memory of 23 Imo indigenes, who died in the Dana Air crash, which occurred on Sunday, June 3.
According to a statement from the Government House, Owerri, Imo State capital at the weekend, the event would hold tomorrow at Ahiajoku Convention Centre, New Owerri.
The statement directed that all markets be closed in the state on that day from 10.00 a.m. till 12.00 noon “to honour the fallen patriots.”
It urged all family members of the victims, all government appointees in the state, monarchs, clerics, traders, transporters and others to attend the service.
Important personalities from the state who died in the plane included the immediate past Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO) and husband of the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs (Prof. Viola Onwuliri), Prof. Celestine Onwuliri, the Group General Manager, Public Affairs of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Dr. Levi Ajuonuma, wife of a governorship candidate, Ike Ibe, Jennifer and their daughter.
