Kanu may get Punished for Shunning Trainng – Portsmouth

English clubside, Portsmouth are considering taking disciplinary action against Kanu Nwankwo, former Super Eagles captain for his continued absence from club activities. Nwankwo has missed training twice while his teammates have since resumed.

Kanu’s reason for staying away is yet unclear, however, negotiations over the £300,000 he has been alleged to have been is demanding as severance package has been put on hold. Kanu still has one year left on his contract with the football club.

Trevor Birch, the club’s administrator is threatening to take disciplinary action against the veteran striker if he continues to boycott training. And this might include calling upon the Professional Footballers’ Association.

According to Birch, “Kanu is back in Nigeria, that is the understanding from his legal adviser, who I have been speaking to. I don’t actually know why he hasn’t come back… What I do know, though, is we have not reached a compromise and he was due back on Monday along with the rest of the contracted players. Then he just didn’t turn up… Kanu must turn up for training, or this is a breach of contract… Whether it is sufficient enough to terminate his contract I don’t know at this stage, we will have to wait and see.”
