N7.6b lost to pipeline vandalism

THE Aba petroleum products depot that was shut down seven years ago due to pipeline vandalism between Aba and Port Harcourt was re-opened on Monday with the Managing Director of the Pipeline Products Marketing Company  (PPMC), Mr. Haruna Momoh, saying that N7.6 billion revenue was lost during the shutdown.

Haruna said the 33-year-old depot at Osisioma Aba, which comprised 12 storage tanks, had a storage capacity for 103 million litres of petroleum products.

Group Managing Director of the NNPC, Mr. Andrew Yakubu, said the Federal Government had risen to restore downstream infrastructure by reopening the depot, adding that the security of depots ought to be the responsibility of all stakeholders to prevent another shutdown.
