THE Chairman, Osun State Local Council Creation Committee, Prof. Mojeed Olujimi Alabi, has said that his committee would place emphasis on the availability of resources in an area before any request for the creation of a local council is accepted.
At an interactive forum with stakeholders and communities seeking the creation of local council areas in the state, Alabi said Osun could not afford to create local councils that would depend solely on allocation from either the federal or state governments for survival.
He charged community leaders to be meticulous in their memoranda not only to assist his committee in doing a good job, but to ensure that their efforts would not end in futility.
According to him, the committee is poised to observe all constitutional provisions to ensure that it does not make any mistake that would void its effort, adding that it had learnt from the mistakes of the past.
The former Speaker of Osun State House of Assembly allayed the fear of the people that the exercise might be swept under the carpet like the previous ones, saying that his committee would ensure that due process was followed to ensure a successful work.
