News is my life; my life is good news!

He is known as one of the greatest musicians to have ever emerged from the country; he became popular for his courage and ability to stand up against government “maladministration” in his time; his name is FELA ANIKULAPO KUTI; he is a legend!

Some of the evil things he sang about in government are still thriving today. Now is he a prophet? Fela lives on…

Thursday, 2nd August, 2012 marks 15 years since the death of Fela, but he is far from forgotten, both at home and abroad. At times one looks at the things going on in the country at the moment and wonders: what if Papa 70 were alive? What would he say? What would he do?

We can continue to imagine till infinity. But one thing is certain – Fela would never keep quiet in the face of the corruption staring most Nigerian in the face today. He would have none of it! Even if sing about it is all he would do, he will definitely play his part. As we remember this great Nigerian today, we should think of what we can contribute – no matter how little – towards making Nigeria a better country for all.
