Giroud And Podolski Good Enough For Me – Wenger

Arsene Wenger insists he will not but another striker to replace Robin Van Persie whom he sold to Manchester United for £22million yesterday. He claims the Gunners already have his replacement in new signings Olivier Giroud and Lukas Podolski.

Wenger said: “Giroud and Podolski were originally intended to offset the departure of Van Persie.”

The Frenchman admits Arsenal were left with no other option but to sell their captain. He added: “It’s never great to lose players of that quality but he only had a year contract so we do not have a choice. He is at Manchester United, unfortunately for us. The transfer was finalised in the afternoon.”

Already, German international Lukas Podolski, has warmed his way into the heart of fans of the north London club in style with two goals in their last pre-season game against FC Cologne.
