I Hate to Describe Boko Haram as Terrorists, Although They Act Just Like Them – Jonathan

In an address presented on his behalf by his deputy, Namadi Sambo, at the graduation ceremony of the National Defence College Course 20, in Abuja on Friday, President, Goodluck Jonathan has made it clear that it is a difficult task for the Federal Government to surmount the challenges posed by terrorism in the country.

Among other things, the president stressed the cooperation of all patriotic Nigerian in tackling the terrorists. The President pointed out that Nigerians must do everything possible to uncover the various terrorist hideouts in the county. He also challenged the security and intelligence agencies to take up the challenge to expose the various threats to national security through effective inter-agency collaboration.

According to the address, “Our security will therefore require the best intelligence to reveal threats hidden in built-up areas, in hills, in forests, in remote settlements and so on… Inter-agency cooperation among our security agencies must be reinforced and our responses must be swift… Above all, our security will require the participation of all loyal citizens of this country. The work ahead is complex and difficult; so, are the choices before us.”

The address continues: “I hate to describe the enemies as terrorists, but they operate just like them. We must uncover their cells using all available tools. We will work with all our friends in confronting terrorism… We are in a conflict between the good and the evil and we must be bold enough to call evil by its name. This evil goes by the name Boko Haram.”

  • The root of insecurity in Nigeria is as a result of poor governance, unbearable corruption and social injustice. Democracy is not good for Nigerians, it makes Nigerian leaders to behave like demons that is why you always see them demolishing poor people houses to erect theirs and also crazy around to squader our common wealth. I suggest if Nigeria can change democracy to a better name like synpatriocy which means the government of patriotism for building a better nation.

  • Snc dey ar nt TERRORISTS whu ar dey Mr President u hv tu b bold tu cal der names is lyk u kw most of der sponsor.

  • I think that this Boko Haram story is outdated. If the Nigeria goverment should think tha it is difficult to fight Boko Haram seing what is their main “mode operandi” A fragment of the so called Boko Haram spokesman; We stroly believe that Almighty Allah will reward us with his famous paradise in the hereafter as he rightly said in chapter 9 verse 111 of the Holy Qur’an. ‘We want to stress that in our struggle, we only k*ll government functionaries, security agents, Christians and anyone who pretends to be a Muslim but engage in assisting security agents to arrest us’. They want Islamic state, why not allow them to have their own country. is it by force. If the politicinas should not come together to slove this problem by either letting the northerner on their own without even any economical relationship then one day Nigeria will never be agan like a conutry but like Somalia where fractions will be killing each other untill the end of the world. No one is protecting any body. even the normal citizens kill each other at random. Even before Boko Haram, it was difficult to go out after 6 pm in many parts of Nigeria simply because of lack of security. Even if any body rules Nigeria (be he Boko Haram , Muslim or Christian, security has never been in Nigeria and with the present position of things we shall always continue to live like wild animals simply because we are black and as such everything abou the black continent is painted in black. They have also black life all over the world. Black nations are coursed.

  • THE ISSUE OF NIGERIA IS NOT FAR FETCH. THOSE WHO ARE GOVERNMENT IN ONE WAY ARE THEIR FATHER WHO GIVE THEM UPPER. BUT MIND U THE LORD HAS ARISE 4RM HIS THRONE 2 ELEMINATE THOSE WHO ARE AFTER THE DOWN FALL OF THIS NATION, BEWEAR.
