LASTMA Official’s Death: Police Drops Manslaughter Charges against Female Banker

The female banker, Mrs Yinka Johnson, who was accused by the LASTMA of having crushed one of its officials to death had had the manslaughter charges against her dropped. Mrs Yinka’s case was heard as the Igbosere Magistrate’s Court in Lagos where she was charged for traffic offence on Tuesday. She was also granted bail, after spending four days in police custody. Operatives at the State Criminal Investigation Department, Yaba, had charged the banker for driving against traffic, at the end of the investigation.

The magistrate, Mr. Jacob Adegun, granted the 35-year-old banker bail in the sum N50,000 with one surety in like sum, after having pleaded not guilty on a one count charge of reckless driving against traffic.

According to the Police prosecutor, Inspector Agoi Oluwagbemileke, Mrs. Johnson was arrested on August 10 at 8.30 a.m. at Mega Chicken area of Ikota in Lekki, Lagos, for recklessly driving a Range Rover Sports Utility Van, with number-plate CY 276 LSD. He said: “The accused refused to obey government officials who tried to stop her from taking the road.”

The case has been adjourned till September 5, for mention. Meanwhile, besides the open show of questionable integrity on the part of the LASTMA official who initially claimed that Mrs Johnson crushed one of their colleagues to death, the actual perpetrator of the dastardly act remains at large.

  1. MIC ODUAK, I seem not to understand your point, but if it is meant to mean that the Lady killed the LASTMA official and bribed her ways, then your are out of point. LASTMA even where they Pinch you on deliberate falsehood, you can’t go scot free. So KEEP your mouth shut on this matter.
