Nigerian Students’ Roundtable is a conference of Nigerian undergraduates cutting across all the tertiary
institutions with incisive discussions /dialogue on issues affecting growth and sustainable development
of Nigeria. The conference will express a synergy between the past and present generation of Nigerian
leaders; with 12 executives and achievers invited from different sectors in Nigeria as speakers/panelist
and 250 undergraduates cutting across all the tertiary institutions in Nigeria will be selected through an
online application as parliamentarians working out resolutions to address the expected change through
wide spread advocacy.
With an expected inclusion as one of 20 leading economies in 2020, the drive for this event is to equip
Nigerian undergraduates via training and enlightenment to position the Nigerian youths as a catalyst to
this change. Recent statistics shows that the Nigerian youths constitutes 70% of the total population of
Nigeria,49% are unemployable and most companies prefer to implore the service of skilled personnel
outside the country to get the job done since their ultimate aim is to get maximum result. Many youths
depend on government to do everything for them and they end up becoming part of the problem that is
needed to be solved, they get carried away with the saying that “they are leaders of tomorrow” without
realizing that leadership starts now and that a leader tomorrow must start showing the symptoms today
by taking up responsibilities.
Nigerian Students’ Roundtable is aimed at educating and informing the youths that there is a difference
between education and learning in relation to schooling because learning is a continuous process that
goes beyond the four wall of any formal institution.
The event will also spur the youths to be enterprising, innovative and positive minded as these are keys to
achieving the unimaginable through activities like Dialogue, Syndicate Session, Skill Acquisition
Workshop(paint making, photography, small chops making e.t.c) Career Fair and Send-Forth Party. The
maiden edition of this event is scheduled for Sept 28 -October 1 2012 at Obafemi Awolowo University Ile-
Ife, Osun State, Nigeria. Tagged: Improved Value System; Key to a New Nigeria.
