Red…Color To Avoid?
That is the latest message from the rumor mills making the rounds and I just copied this from a friend’s wall on facebook who allegedly received it via BB broadcast. Ordinarily these sort of stories should be ignored but due to our penchant for believing even the most unbelievable of stories, it cannot be ignored.
A similar unfounded rumor made the news last week especially on social media of a particular mobile phone number that is allegedly used by ritualists and Nigerians were advised to ignore any call from such number as doing otherwise could lead to death. Whoa!
Again, I saw another post some few days ago on facebook of a killer sanitary tampon which if used, causes its user to bleed to death as it had allegedly killed 50 ladies in a particular Nigerian city. Did you hear any such story in the news?

Then I imagine, with all our claim to education and exposure, why are we easily swayed by stories that cannot be proven or source genuinely verified? As at the time of writing this post, Pastor E.A Adeboye of The Redeemed Christian Church of God from whom this warning was rumored to have emanated from, categorically denied issuing such statements. He wrote on his facebook wall: “Please inform all your friends and family members that I, Pastor E.A. Adeboye, did not send any message out informing you not to wear a particular color and do not have any issues with whatever color. No message stating you should not wear a particular color was ever authorized by The Redemption Camp or my office. Please be mindful and careful of erroneous messages”
