There Could be Violence during 2015 Elections – National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki

The National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki, (rtd), has warned that there could be violence in the 2015 general going by the prevailing security situation in the country. In other words, either he does not expect to be able to solve the current situation problems facing the country, for which he had been appointed in the first place; or he just wants to put fear in the heart of Nigerians – you are on your own.

The NSA was speaking on Wednesday, in Abuja, at the opening of a two-day workshop on security challenges in elections management, organised by INEC. According to him, “There could possibly be violence, but with a different angle to it, not post election but before and during, because of the prevailing security situation, unless the security situation gets better before then.”

Of course Nigerians expect the security situation to get better before then. Or is that not why he was appointed to replace General Andrew Azazi in the first place?

The 2015 elections are more than two years away. The National Security Adviser has enough time to prepare for whatever insurgences might arise. And, more importantly, there is enough time to even avoid any insurgence at all. So, what is the essence of this kind of utterance?

  1. You people are so freaking biased. He just passed a warning. Maybe calling on the government to assist. He is National Security Adviser. He does not implement. He only advises and gives warnings. Informationnigeria give us news that is unbiased for once please. Stop giving us useless opinions. Abegi
