Attitude and Consistency Are Vital – Wenger

Arsene Wenger says that maintaining a positive attitude and being consistent will be key to any fruitful title bid this season.

Arsenal are presently in the fifth position in the Premier League with an unbeaten run in the campaign so far and claimed a draw at the champions Manchester City’s home ground, The Etihad on Sunday.

Wenger was pleased with his side’s performance at the Etihad Stadium, but says they must remain consistent if they are to challenge at the top.

“What is very important for the team is that it was a point in a convincing way,” he told Arsenal Player.

“It was not a miraculous point. It was a well-deserved point. We dominated the game for big parts and that must strengthen the team’s belief.

“It’s now down to how much we improve, how well we keep that attitude [if we are to win the title]. If we keep that attitude, I think we have a chance.

“Attitude and consistency will make the end result. Let’s see after 38 games.”

Wenger believes the performance against City should provide the whole squad with a real boost ahead of Saturday’s game against Chelsea.

“I’m happy with the quality of our performance – happy with our attitude, our spirit and our team play,” he said. “A bit frustrated (as well) because we had early chances and very late chance with Gervinho that we could have killed the game.

“But overall, I hope that this game will reinforce our belief and our ambition as a team. It’s not all perfect, we have some room for improvement but I feel the basic is there. That means the spirit and the team quality, so let’s work. “
