Gunmen Kill Borno State Commissioner for Justice in His House

The Borno State commissioner for justice, Zannah Malam Gana, has been reportedly killed by unknown gunmen.

According to a government official who spoke on condition of anonymity on Tuesday, the attack took place in the town of Bama in northeastern Nigeria late Monday. He said, “We received the report of the death of the commissioner of justice, Zannah Malam Gana… He was shot dead by some gunmen in his house around 8:45 pm last night.”

Although it remains unknown, the motive behind the killing, it should be noted that it occurred after security forces on Monday shot dead two suspected high-ranking members of Islamist extremist group, Boko Haram.

It will be important, also, to remember that Borno State remains one of the hotspots as far as the activities of the Boko Haram are concerned. Boko Haram is blamed for more than 1,400 deaths in northern and central Nigeria as part of its insurgency. Meanwhile, nobody has come out to claim responsibility for the attack.

  1. may God save us in this country,i sympathise wt d govt, family, relatives and good people of borno state.May allah grant him halijana.

  2. This is conclusive proof that every State, LGA, Ward, Town, Village in 2012 plus Nigeria needs a Police force or Army of some sort. You can argue what you like at Abuja, NASS or state assemblies – but the truth is that Youths 20-35yrs unemployed, hardly educated have taken over the affairs of the country as Boko Haram, Armed robbers, Kidnappers, Cultists etc .The FGN police and Armed forces alone can not stop them. Only similar grass root Police and internal Army can stop them. All be warned.

  3. May his rest in perfect peace amen,
