Man Creates Bomb Scare To Avenge Girlfriend

There are still people who would do anything for love. Kenneth Smith Jr., a 26 year old man, was charged with using a telephone to convey false information about his girlfriend’s former boyfriend, who was a passenger aboard the US Airways flight from Philadelphia to Dallas on Thursday.

Not long after the plane had departed, authorities ordered it back to Philadelphia when police received a call that the former boyfriend, Christopher Shell, 29, was carrying a liquid explosive on board.

According to authorities, after the plane had landed and had been searched, no dangerous materials were found and the incident was soon deemed to be a hoax.

“Smith stated that his motive for doing so was to avenge Shell’s ex-girlfriend of whom Shell had posted a compromising picture on Facebook,” read an FBI affidavit.

Smith’s lawyer, William Brennan said, “It is the kind of photo that could incense a boyfriend,” after his afternoon appearance in U.S. District Court, declining to further describe the photograph.

Federal Magistrate Henry Perkin ordered Smith released on his own recognizance on the condition that he keep his job as a restaurant cook, not move from his Philadelphia address, or seek a passport, and stay away from Shell and firearms.

But seriously, doesn’t he look like Lionel Messi?
