Another Set Of Twins Delivered In Flood Relief Camp

The flood might have robbed the victims of their properties and their livelihood, but God has been giving them reasons to smile amidst their hardship as another set of twins has been delivered at the flood victims camp located at the Central School, Odekpe in Ogbaru local government area of Anambra State, bringing to three the number of multiple births recorded in the camps in the state since the victims were sacked by flood that ravaged their communities. Two sets of triplets had earlier been birthed at the Fr. Joseph Memorial High School, Aguleri camp where victims from Anambra West and Ayamelum were camped.

Mr. Steve Chukwuma Chairman of Ogbaru local government Transition Committee, on Thursday said that another pregnant woman at the camp was also delivered of a single baby. Both mothers were said to still be in a hospital and their babies healthy.

Dozzy group donated relief materials to victims of the flood. The Head, Human Resources and Administration of Dozzy Group, Mr. Chima Akuchie, who presented 200 bags of rice to the camp management at Atani, Ogbaru local government area, said the donation was to ameliorate the suffering of the victims, who have lost most of their life savings.

The company extended its good gesture to other camps with similar donations to the victims camped at Ihiala, Okija, Aguleri, Onitsha and other parts of Ogbaru, assuring that more donations would be made in future.

Receiving the bags of rice on behalf of the relief camp committee, the Anglican Bishop of Ogbaru, Rt. Rev. Samuel Ezeofor identified hunger as a major challenge to the displaced persons in camp.

He appreciated Dozzy Group for the support and prayed God’s blessing on the company. He also debunked allegations of diversion of relief materials, adding however, that there was one case in which a consignment of relief materials being sent to Ogbaru was hijacked by other flood victims who told those bringing the materials that the camps in Ogbaru had been cut off by the flood.

According to the bishop, 52 churches were submerged by the flood, which submerged the entire Ogbaru local government area, adding that as at Friday, 41 churches were still submerged.
