University applicants may be dealt a big blow by the end of October as most of their choice schools are from all indications not ready to admit them.

JAMB Registrar, Prof Dibu Ojerinde on Thursday disclosed at a meeting in Abuja between the Minister of Education and management of tertiary institutions that only 10 out of the nation’s 71 Universities may likely meet the 31st October, 2012 admission deadline for the 2012\2013 academic session.

In view of the development, Minister of Education, Prof. Ruqayyatu Rufai, issued a Seven day ultimatum to all the institutions to meet with the relevant admission and regulatory agencies to iron out their challenges ahead of the deadline.

Further concerns were raised due to the absence of many invited institutions at the meeting. Out of the 71 institutions invited for the meeting, including Colleges of Education and Polytechnics, only 31 of them attended.
