September 30 is a day to be forgotten in the Akinjide family as one of their sons accidentally killed his brother while struggling to retrieve a N100 MTN recharge card back from him.
Tunji Akinjide picked up a knife to scare his brother to return the recharge card, but before he knew it, his brother was on the floor bleeding. He was helpless and watched his brother bleed to death.
According to their elder sister who relayed the sad incident, she said amid sobs; “My parents called me while I was at home with my husband in Osogbo that something needed my urgent attention. I rushed home to find out that Tunji had killed his brother. He’s not a violent boy o…I wonder what happened to him.”
Police have reportedly taken the boy into custody pending further investigation.
May God give the family the fortitude to bear the loss. Is the police going to prosecute the boy? Reports say none of the brothers is older than 20.
Efforts to reach the police to comment on the matter has so far proven abortive as they claim the issue is a very sensitive one and should be treated as one.
