A farewell service will today hold at 4 p.m. for Ugo Ozuah, a former student of Kings College Lagos who was brutally murdered along Gbagada Expressway on Thursday September 20, 2012, just five days after his wedding, at Kings College Lagos.
According to the friends and family of the deceased, he was shot by drunk policemen who pulled beside him in a pickup van while escorting a friend who had come to greet him just a day after he returned from his honeymoon.
The police had earlier dismissed the incident as a robbery attack, but Justice for Ugo Ozuah campaign in the press and social media meant the IGP would look into the matter and promised to conduct a thorough and unbiased investigation.
In order to ensure justice is served and people stay in touch with the reality of what happened on September 20, late Ugo’s eldest sister opened a twitter account on September 30. She has also used the medium to invite people for the farewell service holding today. “He’ll forever be in our hearts,” she says.
