FIFA Rankings: Nigeria’s Soccer Woes Continue As Eagles Now Rank 63rd In The World

Nigeria continued her downward decline in the monthly FIFA rankings as the latest release shows that the Super Eagles have dropped five places to 63rd in the world.

This is Nigeria’s worst ranking in a decade which goes to show the steady decline of the team in world football. This ranking is coming at a time the Super Eagles are focusing on the all important 2013 Nations Cup qualifier against Liberia next weekend in Calabar. The first leg saw the Nigerian national team snatch a point in Monrovia and nothing short of a victory will see them qualify for the Nations Cup in South Africa.

The country also dropped three places from 10th to place 13th in the Africa rankings while the  Central African Republic made a tremendous leap of 15 places to place 49th in the world and ninth in Africa.

Cote d’Ivoire continue their fine run as they maintain the top spot in Africa rankings even as they are 16th in the world, while Algeria moved up four places to occupy Africa’s second position and 24th in the world.

Mali is third on the Africa rankings after climbing five places and are now ranked 27th in the world.

Spain still top the world ratings, while Germany, Portugal Argentina and England complete the top five countries in that order.
