A tour embarked upon by the Hon. Minister of Information, Mr. Labaran Maku, and the Managing Director, Nigerian Railway Corporation, Mr. Adeseye Sijuwade, reportedly suffered a slight setback on Friday following the shortage of aviation fuel in two Nigerian Air Force choppers dispatched to Zungeru in Wushishi Local Government Area of Niger State.
The tour, tagged Niger State’s Good Governance Media Tour was supposed to have the minister and the railway boss visit the Kainji and Shiroro Thermal stations for the supervision of some Federal Government projects.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Transport could not make the journey on Friday as a result of the minister’s visit to the Republic of Niger in company of President Goodluk Ebele Jonathan during the latter’s official visit to the neighbouring country.
According to Sunday Tribune, the minister and some government officials had to wait till Saturday to go because of the shortage of the fuel. It was also learnt that on the entourage of the Minister of Friday was the President, Nigeria Union of Journalists, Comrade Mohammed Garba, journalists from Abuja, civil society groups, some state commissioners and the crew of Niger state radio and television stations, among others.
The two helicopters marked NAF 572 and NAF 573, had arrived Zungeru at different intervals and landed at the late Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe Primary School premises and near the uncompleted Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe Centre respectively.
