Gunmen Abduct Member of House of Representatives’ Mother

Alhaja Obedatu Abudu-Balogun, the mother of a Federal Lawmaker representing Ijebu North/Ijebu East and Ogun Waterside Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, Mr. Abiodun Abudu-Balogun, has been abducted by gunmen in Ogun State.

According to the Vanguard, which reported the news, the woman, who was a community leader in the local government was abducted at 9.30 p.m. shortly after she took her dinner at her residence in Ita-Otu, in Ogun waterside Local Government Area.

Her son, Mr. Abudu-Balogun, an Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, member, is the deputy chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Internal Security. While confirming the incident, the Reps member described the incident as too painful for him to bear, saying that, the entire family members are afraid of the condition of their mother.

Speaking with newsmen on the abduction of his mother, Abudu-Balogun disclosed that, the entire members of the family had begun marathon prayers for her safe return. He, however, said that, the kidnappers had not contacted any member of the family for ransom.
