Weird MC, Tiwa Savage Pays Tribute As Late Vanguard Entertainment Editor Goes Home

Vanguard’s entertainment editor, Ogbonna Amadi who recently passed away will this afternoon be buried at his home town, Okagwe, Ohafia, in Abia State.

The events marking the entertainment journalist’s journey home began on October 8 when a service of songs was held at his residence in Ifako Ijaye area of Lagos.

A candlelight procession was later organized by entertainment journalists and friends of the deceased at O’ jez Chinese Restaurant, National Stadium, Surulere, on Tuesday, October 9, an event graced by a lot of top celebrities.

Some of the celebrities who were at the events were Sola Idowu, popularly known as Weird MC , Tiwa Savage, Waje, Sound Sultan and Omawumi. Others included film maker, Eddie Ugbomah, Ras Kimono, Kanayo O. Kanayo, Fred Amata, Julius Agwu, Fidelis Duke, Madu Chikwendu, Alex Eyengho, and Charles Inojie, among others.

Celebrities eulogized the late journalist in turns in a silent night where they were all dressed in black.

In her tribute to Amadi, Weird MC said he was like a mentor to every up and coming musician in the country.” “Amadi supported me when I was coming up and he was like a big brother to me,” she said.

Tiwa Savage also spoke of Amadi as a man who helped others grow.

“When I returned to the country few years back, Amadi was one of the people that helped me to hone my talent. He touched the life of every musician in this country.”

The evening ended with a candlelight procession and prayers.

Ogbonna Amadi has been celebrated since he died following an asthma attack, as one of the greatest contributors to Nigeria’s entertainment industry, an accomplished journalist and a great friend.
