Enugu State Governor’s Aide Died Of Food Poisoning – Family

Senior Special Adviser to Governor Sullivan Chime of Enugu State, Mrs. Jane Ugwu, has died of food poisoning, family sources disclosed on Sunday.

Ugwu passed on in the wee hours of Thursday moments after a meal she allegedly took at a public function in Nsukka area of the state.

It was gathered that the function, which was organised by a senator, was a town hall meeting meant to harmonise the opinions of stakeholders towards taking a common front at last week’s nationwide constitution review exercise.

A government official who declined to be named said, “Jane came back from the event and was complaining consistently of stomach ache and was rushed to Annunciation Hospital, Emene, Enugu where she gave up the ghost after three days.

“The autopsy report showed that her intestine was swollen and twisted with dark coloration which further gave credence to the pains she experienced before her death.”

Jane, who was 43 years old, hailed from Amogwu in Aku, Igbo-Etiti Local Government Area of the state.

  1. Nigerians are a lazy bunch. Relations of Jane Ugwu have confirmed that she died of chronic ulcer which she had been battling in the past ten years. She had done an intestinal surgery to cut off the infected part of her intestine in Germany in 2008. Those who write in the newspapers and the social media only need to be patient and go the extra mile. Of all the reports I’ve read none has shown a copy of the autopsy or the death certificate. I’m aware over 2,000 people participated at the townhall meeting from available information. How was she she singled out to be poisoned since the meal was self service. The public hearing happened on Monday and she died on Thursday. Available evidence suggest she complained of stomach problem only the same Thursday morning before she was rushed to the hospital. I call on the family to speak up or make the autosopy report public. Let the truth be told

  2. Jane Ugwu died of complications arising from chronic ulcer of the stomach. She has been battling this ailment for over a decade. Her close relations including those who serve in one of the security agencies in Nigeria confirmed that she lost the battle to this sickness last week Thursday. They also confirmed she had a surgery in Germany in 2008 to correct the situation. There’s a strong suspicion that her death is traceable to complications arising from that medical procedure. She was also said to have been battling heavy emotional problems following the collapse of her childless marriage to a white German. May her gentle soul rest in peace!

  4. I was at that the said public hearing attended by over 2,000 delegates and we all ate food there. How come this poison has only been prepared for Jane Ugwu alone? Over 200 traditional rulers, members of the house of assembly, former ministers and officials of the Adada State movement, local council chairmen from the area among party officials, councillors and heavy political weights, including the clergy were there. On the whole anout 2,500 people attended the townhall meeting. The food was by self service. There were about three serving points. How come all the people who ate this food escaped this poison? Jane served herself like others if she actually ate there. African people are very fetish and this has been the bane of our development. How can we make progress when we attribute everything to a non-existent plot by some enemies somewhere.
