Manchester United Overcome Hard Fighting 10-Man Arsenal

The highly anticipated fixture between Manchester United and North London side, Arsenal, lived up to its billing as an ‘epic clash’ at the Theatre of Dreams known as Old Trafford.

In a tie that saw the Manchester side emerge victorious courtesy of goals from former Arsenal hitman, Robin Van Persie in the 3rd minute of play and defender Patrice Evra in the 67th minute, the Red Devils now sit atop the premier league table ahead of Chelsea who are away to Swansea City. Arsenal however got a consolatory goal in 90+5 mins courtesy of Santi Cazorla.

The Dutchman scored a second in the nick of half-time but was ruled out for off-side. The tie saw five United players receive yellow cards with Arsenal getting in the referee’s book thrice but a red for Jack Wilshere who got his second yellow on the afternoon, saw the Gunners reduced to 10 players on the field.
