Stop Corruption And We’ll Stop Going On Strike – ASUU President

A seemingly tough condition has been handed to the Federal Government by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU). The union’s presdident, Dr Nasir Isa Faggae, disclosed that the union would only place a moratorium on strikes when the Federal Government does same on corruption!

The Bayero University Kano (BUK) don, made this statement while reacting to a request made to the union by a participant at a consultative dialogue of Association of Vice-chancellors of Nigerian Universities (AVCNU) that strikes by the union had destabilized the university system, said if there was no corruption, the universities would not have cause to go on strikes.

Fagge who stated that the only way varsities could take their place of pride in society was if they stayed clear of politics and corruption, frowned at the idea that universities must generate money – saying it is unrealistic.
