The police could not apprehend the suspects who shot and killed a don of the Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, professor Hyacinth Mbibu, on Thursday night, but they could recover the motorcycle that was allegedly used to trail him.
This was disclosed by spokesperson of the Nigeria Police Force in Kaduna, Aminu Lawan, on Friday.
Mr. Lawan also said the force is closing in on the assailants and is confident they will be arrested soon.
The police spokesperson however could not confirm if the person shot was a professor.
“All I can tell you is that someone who works with the ABU Teaching Hospital was shot somewhere in Zaria, not Shika, by some unknown gunmen.
“Investigations have commenced and we are making progress; that is all I can tell you for now” Mr. Lawan said.
