Even as there is still petrol scarcity in some parts on the country, employees at the Port Harcourt Refinery, on Tuesday, protested the rumour doing the rounds that the Federal Government is at the verge of selling off the refinery to a private company.
According to an ex-official of Nigerian Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG), Umoru David, who spoke to journalists, the Federal Government had last week approved an inspection of the refineries by an Indian company. David, who decried the lack of Turn-around Maintenance of the Port Harcourt refineries in the last 12 years, accused the Federal Government of refusal to facilitate the provision of crude oil for the refinery to function at full capacity.
David argued that the workers were not against privatisation, but rather expected that federal lawmakers would pass the Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB) to enable the refinery to be autonomous. Some of the refinery workers were seen on red T-Shirt at the entrance of the refinery gate in a peaceful protest.
Hahahaha !!!!!!!, His Excellency President Jonathan would never allow such an incident to occur during his own tenure & worst of it all, Sold to an indian firm ?????. Any Nigeria president, who is not ready to address both Electricity & petrol issue in the Country is Enemy of Progress to Nigerian citizen’s.
However, if happened to be true, it means Some deals is going on which is the Usual practices of past Leaders. May God give his Excellency the wisdom to choose & do the Right things in Jesus & Allah’s Name. “Amen”
