Stop Insulting Jonathan On Facebook, Twitter – N/Delta Youth Group

Goodluck-JonathanNigerian youths have been called upon to desist from insulting the country’s President on Facebook and other social media.

The group, Niger Delta Youth Initiative for Positive Change, decried the penchant of some Nigerians in hurling abusive words towards President Goodluck Jonathan, adding that such attitude was uncommon in other countries.

Mr. David Ato, National Coordinator of the group, made this call while speaking with newsmen in Port Harcourt on Friday. Ato explained that President Jonathan meant well for Nigerians.

Ato stated that rather than insult the President, Nigerians, including youths, are supposed to support him so that he can deliver on his election promises.

While reminding abusers of the President that the economic and political problems facing the country were not created by him, Ato said, “The youth should desist from using abusive words against the President of the country. We should learn how to respect our leaders and we need to support him because we elected him into that office.

“Insulting him on Facebook and other social media is not the best. The truth is that Nigeria has been facing a lot of economic and political problems for a long time. President Jonathan did not create these problems.”

He, however, urged the President to begin to deliver on his election promises in 2013, adding that Nigerians were waiting anxiously to see the manifestation of his transformation agenda.

  1. Do this David Ato and his cotravellers live in Nigeria or elsewhere? Now that we’ve the Nation’s President from Niger Delta, it’s you people duty to defend him against indefensible blunders he’s keeps on committing daily? Are people buying petroleum products at special prices or you buy the same way the rest of the citizenry buy it? You people should rather be ashamed that Nigeria has it worst during the time your kinsman rule. I think Mr. David Ato must also be a UNIPORT PhD holder as well

  2. well nobody is insulting the president, what we need is good changes in nija, hez not the first president and not gona be the last, when others before him were in the office we keeping hearing encourage the president for him to work well but at the end of the day our encouragements were proved to be useless,he need to create what he would be remembered for, i must said that the masses are tired of our leaders and their promises,na down we sitdown dey look them…..NA GOD HANDS WE DEY

  3. It is wrong to be abusing GEJ on social medias or any place for that matter. What I expect people to do is to point out areas he is not performing and offer advices , solutions etc. I have observed that most of these insults come from our Northern brothers mostly. But one interesting thing is that they never insult or attack their leaders who have turned the North into pauperised environment. INSULTING OUR PRESIDENT SHOWS POOR BREEDING.

  4. TO MR. CHARLES
Y is it that when anything comes up u people blame it on the northerners? U r indeed a small minded person. Creating organisation wit the intention of getting his own shares and him dey dere dey claim 2 b advicing the youths. My broda, dis is only place the youths can express the views and i wish mr Jeg is seen it. Have neva a government were the cabinets are most corrupts office holders n yet he “the president” is weak in handing them ova to the appropriate agencies. A govt that once accepted that Boko haram has infuriated his govt n yet he allows them to continue b part of his cabinets and funniest part of it is that, the person he once sack for saying the truth 4 the first time that PDP are the Boko Haram is now suddenly the person he is now praising after he was involve in a chopper crashed dat killed him and the Gov. Of kaduna state. Well, God dey sha and according to an housa man ” Allah yayisa” dat is poor man prayer. And lets i 4get. The PDP said we should pray 4 their Gov.s dat are sick and the president abi. Well, dis is my prayers 4 dem. May God in His infinite mercy treat the Governors as they are treating us “masses” and rule them “Jeg/Sambo and their cabinets” as they are ruling us. Amen.

  7. i dont knw ur name Akpo or what so ever, it bcomes obvios dat u nd ur kind are striving very hard to c dat our dear Nigeria has been detoriorated by d reckless act of this our doomed bastard nd unforseen president is doing! U should pls need to hav sense of generativity for d whole of Nigeria not be blind by regional sentiment!! Get heed. Na for me i said fuck u Mr President. Fuck you gudluck jonathan!!!!!!!!!

  8. insulting jonathan is bad, but we must make right criticisms. Our problem is that when someone says something against our leaders especially president, we are not after the truth of his opinion, but where he comes from, his tribe and his religion, which is very bad to those calling themselves educated. In assessing jonathan, every right thinking man knows his administration is just a failure to nigerians and there is seriousness to change the contry. I advise him to step down as he lacks competence.

  9. What a pity! I’ll not insult my leaders for God said in the two faith books, we shouldn’t do that. But we pray for change in their attitudes for God is merceful May come to our aid. All the sentimental comments and insults, of course, they (Leaders) course for it, WHY? Because of their formulated FORMULAR at the corridors of power – DIVIDE and RULE – while, the SYCOPHANTS are raining praises and the POOR masses are clashing in confusion. Oh! God of mercy brighten our MINDS both to see peace, harmony, and prosperity in my country Nigeria, AMEEN.
