This decisive measure was announced yesterday by the Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Hayward Mafuyai, at the matriculation of new students. He said indecently-dressed students were also to be prevented from attending lectures.

“UNIJOS encourages all students to dress to acceptable standards. Undue exposure of the body parts that has the potential to infuriate the sensibilities of others will be severely sanctioned.”

At the convocation ceremony were about 4,000 new students who gained admission out of the about 40,000 candidates, who chose the university as first or second choice.

While urging the matriculating students to count themselves lucky, Mafuyai said the large number of students applying to the institution anually was also a vote of confidence on its academic excellence.
