Suspected cattle breeders yesterday stormed a ranch at Du, the home village of Plateau State governor Jonah Jang in Jos South Local Government area, killing two people.
The gunmen were said to have gone to the village in a Hilux van, struck at about 2 am shooting sporadically and killing the two identified as Gyang and Davou in the process.
The attackers were said to have attempted to shoot their way into the well-fortified ranch but eventually retreated when they found it impenetrable.
Members of the community subsequently mobilized to repel the attackers trailing them into the surrounding bushes but could not find them.
The Special Task Force, STF, had earlier arrested nine persons for allegedly being in possession of sophisticated fire arms.
Parading the arrested suspects before newsmen in Jos, STF Media Officer Capt. Salisu Mustapha alleged that they were arrested around Du, Shenabe and Bisichi villages in Jos South Local Government Area of the state.
Mustapha listed items recovered from them to include one AK-47 rifle, one FN rifle, one sub-machine gun, one locally made shot revolver and a locally made long revolver.
