AFRD 2013: VP Sambo Tasks Nigerians On National Development

Namadi_SamboAs the country gets set to mark the annual Armed Forces Remembrance Day, Vice President Mohammed Namadi Sambo, has urged Nigerians to continue to pray for continuous peace and progress in the country. The Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebration which holds every January 15th, celebrates the lives of the gallant officers and men that sacrificed their lives in service to their Fatherland.

The Vice President made this call yesterday when he spoke after the Special Juma’at Prayer to mark this year’s Armed Forces Remembrance Day Celebrations, which held at the National Mosque, Abuja.

Sambo said: “Today we had a National Prayer for our lost heroes and brothers and sisters; we pray Almighty Allah to grant them Aljana Firdausi.

“We should continue to pray for peace and progress in Nigeria and this is the time that we all as Nigerians should come together and support this administration for the success of our Transformation Agenda,” he added.

The Muslim faithfuls were led in a special prayer by the Chief Imam of the National Mosque, Sheikh Musa Mohammed.

Present at the event were the Service Chiefs led by Chief of Defence Staff, Vice Admiral O.S. Ibrahim, the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar heads of paramilitary establishments, members of the Federal Executive Council, other notable Nigerians and thousands of Muslim faithfuls.
