Security sources said that the “vicious attack on police facilities” took place around 7.15pm Wednesday.
The sources disclosed that the ensuing fire fights created pandemonium in the sleepy town while residents scampered for safety.
The Assistant Inspector General of police, Zone 1, Kano, Mr David Oluwafemi Omojola while confirming the incident revealed that “a wing of the station was affected by the explosive thrown at the station by the gunmen”
Mr Omojola said: “Yes, our Bunkure station was attacked yesterday by unknown gunmen, a wing of the station was destroyed but investigation has since commenced.”
Also commenting on the attack, the Kano Police command Image maker, ASP Magaji Musa Majia confirmed that “a police sergeant died during the attack while a civilian was burnt beyond recognition”.
