Mikel Dreams AFCON Trophy

248987hp2Super Eagles of Nigeria have only just played a game in the ongoing African Cup of Nations in South Africa but already, Midfield maestro, John Obi Mikel, has started dreaming of the trophy after a long trophy drought for the former two-time African champions.

He said: “We may have drawn our first game but we need to settle down and forget it and concentrate on the next game. There is no problem with the team because we are determined to make Nigerians happy after the match against the defending champions.

“What happened in the match against Burkina Faso will not repeat itself. We are going to take our chances in the next game.

“I know that everything will work well for us on Friday because we need to win that game to put our Nations Cup participation on a sound footing.

“I can see us smiling home with the trophy at the end of the day because we have a team that can win the ultimate prize for the third time,” he said during Tuesday’s evening training session.

Information Nigeria reports that the Chelsea midfielder was voted man of the match in the opening game against Burkina Faso while they hope to record their first win against defending champions, Zambia on Friday.
