Despite the fact that they recently claimed they would no longer respond to propaganda from the opposition, the Lagos State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has vowed that it will defeat the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) in the state in 2015, even “if 10,000 ACN leaders can pose as different political parties and form merger.”
The state PDP disclosed this on Wednesday, in a statement issued and signed by its publicity secretary, Mr Taofeek Gani, pointing out that Lagosians were already fed up with the alleged greed of the ACN leaders. According to the party, “Lagosians are fed up with the greed of the ACN leaders and such leaders will be looked out for as individuals in any political party come 2015… These ACN leaders are liabilities to any serious merger plans. Any political party with any of these ACN leaders remains terminally diseased.”
The PDP accused the ACN of being selfish and keeping silent over the delisting of about 28 political parties by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The party, which described ACN leadership as pseudo democrats, “whose interest is prettified and extremely selfish.”
Wondering why the ACN deliberately kept silent in condemning the INEC action, they said: “We strongly suspect that ACN leadership is behind the actual deregistration of political parties recently announced by the INEC. Our suspicion is conclusive because the ACN is quick to approach the deregistered parties to join the ambitious merger plans to defeat PDP in the general election rather than openly condemn the INEC’s move as done by most PDP leaders… Any political party with any of these ACN leaders remains terminally diseased,” the PDP said.
