A Former Vice President of Nigeria, and presidential aspirant, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has thrown his weight behind the reduction in the number of political parties and advocated the possible adoption of a two party system in Nigeria which he believes would signal the beginning of better leadership.
In a recent interview, the Turakin Adamawa said that he believes the country would be better for it if a two party system is adopted.
“I think we are moving towards that direction.” He said.
Atiku who has “always advocated for fewer political parties,” added that if the country adopts the two party system it will experience “a better political process and … better leadership”.
Information Nigeria recalls that The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Thursday December 6th, 2012 deregistered 28 political parties in Nigeria.
