The First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan, during a thanksgiving service at the Presidential Vila on Sunday, disclosed that she suffered from an undisclosed life threatening ailment which kept her unconscious for a week, but was miraculously brought back to life.
It would be recalled that at the height of her prolonged absence from the country and following speculations of ill-health, the Presidency had stated that the first lady was hale and hearty and was only resting abroad. Also, upon her arrival in the country, Dame Patience herself denied she was ever admitted in a German hospital; a contradictory position.
Reacting to the discordant tunes emanating from the Presidency, Campaign for Democracy (CD) President, Dr. Joe Okei-Odumakin, said the government lacked integrity.
She said, “If a spokesman could tell us she was on holiday, while in actual fact she was sick, it then means there is no honour and integrity.
“If the Presidency says good morning one has to be sure it is not midnight before responding. There should be openness, transparency and honesty” she said.
