War against Insecurity Can never be Won as Long as Youths Remain Unemployed – Group

unemployedAnabel Leadership Academy (ALA), a non-governmental organization, has said the war against insecurity in Nigeria will not be won unless jobs are created for the youths. The group said the greatest crisis Nigeria had was unemployment, adding that the problem of insecurity would continue if the youths were not employed.

The Chief Executive Officer of ALA, Mr. Nicholas Okoye made the remark during a youth leadership and entrepreneurship seminar it organized in collaboration with the University of Nigeria at the Enugu Campus of the university. The programme, entitled “Empower Nigeria”, was aimed at shifting the focus of job creation from the role of the government to that of the private sector.

Okafor, considering the level of unemployment in Nigeria, noted that with proper guidance, the youths had their own ideas that could get them self-employed.

Meanwhile, Enugu State Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Mr. Chijioke Agu, also speaking at the event, advised the youths to start on time to plan for self employment. He said that the seminar was aimed at creating awareness for youths to look at areas where they could become employable and employers of labour. Participants in the seminar were final year students drawn from different different departments of the university.
