The British Council is looking for suitably qualified and experienced individuals to fill the post of Regional Co-ordinator: Commonwealth Scholarships and Fellowships Plan (CSFP).
Purpose of job
The Regional Co-ordinator will ensure the consistent delivery of services to support the Commonwealth Scholarships and Fellowships Plan (CSFP) across the whole of the West Africa region. These services will include both pre-departure services as well as new services to support post-award alumni and monitoring and evaluation. This will involve managing/coordinating support in Commonwealth countries where we have British council offices and also facilitating support where we do not have an office in country. He /She will be in Abuja, Nigeria. The ability to travel is essential.
Context and environment:
- We have worked with the Commonwealth Scholarships Commission (CSC) to support CSFP for over 50 years with a dominantly administrative role providing scholars and fellows with pre-departure briefing and making payments in the UK.
From April 2013 the Association of Commonwealth Universities will manage all scholarship delivery in the UK and the British Council’s will be responsible for preaward and postaward stages of the scholarship cycle overseas The CSC wish to draw on our overseas networks to support these services and to develop new activities to support overall programme objectives.
Accountabilities, responsibilities and main duties:
(including people management and finance)
- Working closely with UK CSFP Product Delivery Manager and Product Delivery Officer to ensure clarity on regional delivery and agree standards
- Regional coordination of predeparture activity
- Regional coordination of alumni activity
- Providing direction and ensuring crossregional workplans delivered
- Provide leadership and direction to country teams to ensure high performance and appropriate standards of customer service are delivered to scholars, and alumni
- Be responsible for ensuring the programme is aligned to regional strategy to achieve cultural relations impact for the CSC and British Council
- To have overall responsibility for coordinating and monitoring British Council performance within region, ensuring the contract is delivered and lessons learned and evaluation reports are fed through to the UK and used for continuous improvement
- Work with countries to seek innovations to the programme and make continuous improvements, particularly with the alumni
- To ensure a focus on development as an outcome of engagement with alumni and alumni activity
- Ensure proper risk management of the programme at a country level, through risk management frameworks and through the specific requirements of the contract.
