Broadcasting Organisation of Nigeria Plans Ahead of 20-Month-Long Centenary Celebration

bonThe South-Eastern zonal chairman of the Broadcasting Organisation of Nigeria (BON), Sir Christian Oseloka-Offor, has revealed that the BON has planned a 20-month-long centenary celebration for Nigeria and digitisation of broadcasting organisation in the country.

Sir Oseloka-Offor made this known on Tuesday, when he paid a courtesy visit to the General Manager of NTA Channel 5 Awka, Mr Gbolahan Somuyiwa, in his office. He said that the BON had looked into vision, mission, background and objective of the centenary celebration, which was designed round the concepts of unity, indivisibility, virility and progress of the federation and decided to give the project all its support and involvement.

He said the centenary celebration would start in January 1, 2014, when Nigeria would be 100 years, counting from when Nigeria came into being on January 1, 1914, with the formal amalgamation of the Northern and Southern protectorates of the former British colony. He also said BON was interested in the celebration because it would offer a unique opportunity to focus global attention on Nigeria, her history, people achievement and aspirations.
