FG To Reconstruct Structures Damaged By Boko Haram

BORNO ELDERS AT THE TOWN HALL MEETING WITH PRESIDENT JONATHAN

The Federal Government will collaborate with state governments across the country to reconstruct structures destroyed by radical Islamist sect, Boko Haram.This indication was given by President Goodluck Jonathan at a town hall meeting in Maiduguri with members of the Borno Elders Forum as part of activities marking his visit to Borno State. Mr. Jonathan said schools, places of worship, and markets, among other structures damaged as a result of the attacks by the group will be reconstructed by the Federal Government.

He explained that this will be done in partnership with the states where such have taken place.

The President also lamented the level of destruction especially in schools which has crippled so many academic activities and expressed sadness over the future of the children in such schools.

On his part, the Borno State Governor, Kashim Shettima, maintained that the activities of Boko Haram had crippled business activities in the state and its environs, and called on the federal government to assist the state to tackle the menace.

He added, however, that despite the activities of the sect, his administration had impacted positively in the area of roads construction, water supply, and agriculture, among others.
