Former Super Eagles Captain, Nwankwo Kanu has tipped the Nigerian National team to bounce back from the 1-1 draw they got against the Harambee Stars of Kenya in a 2014 World Cup qualifying race.

The African Champions, at the weekend only got an equaliser three minutes from time to play out a 1-1 draw with Kenya to avoid what could have been an embarrassing defeat at the U.J Esuene Stadium, to the Harambee Stars who had not won in 11 previous meetings with the Eagles.

The draw allowed meant Malawi and Nigeria are tied at the top on five points, with the Eagles only leading on goal difference.

The sure way to still stand a chance of qualifying for the 2014 World Cup for Nigeria now is to win their remaining matches in order to pick the sole qualifying ticket to the final round, where the winner of the pool will square up against another group winner in a winner takes all two-legged battle.

In a chat with journalists after the match in Calabar, Kanu said that all hope was not yet lost for the Eagles to rescue their World Cup dream.

According to Kanu, the Harambee Stars came to Nigeria with a game plan to frustrate the Eagles, and succeeded, as he noted, the Super Eagles did not play their game, allowing the Kenyans to have a field day and run away with a point.

“I believe that we can bounce back from this draw and qualify for the World Cup”, said Kanu.
