“Leadership Is Courage” – Aregbesola Taunts Jonathan

rauf aregbesolaFollowing the visit yesterday of eight out of the ten state governors behind the yet to be registered All Progressive Congress (APC) to Borno state despite the security challenges in the north eastern state, the governors have declared Maiduguri a relatively ‘safe place.’

Maiduguri has been the hotbed of Boko Haram activities and so it was a big surprise when the APC governors chose the state capital for the third leg of their meeting on the political party in spite of a security report which cautioned them on holding the meeting in Borno State in the first place.

In a veiled reference to the failure of President Goodluck Jonathan to visit Borno state, Governor Rauf Aregbesola said: “Leadership is courage, leadership is compassion, and leadership is decisiveness. These three things are the basis of our being here (Borno). We come to share with the people that we are Nigerians. We are here to show the whole world that we are one, strong and united. This is the leadership we want to give Nigerians.”

Meanwhile, in a related development, the governors announced a joint donation of N200m as relief for the victims of the Boko Haram crisis in Borno and Yobe States.
