A serving senator representing Oyo South senatorial district in the upper chamber of the National Assembly, Senator Olufemi Lanlehin, has said that newly-formed political party, All Progressives Congress (APC) has come to stay.
Lanlehin made this assertion at Inalende market, Ward 8, Ibadan North West Local Government while upgrading his membership with the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) during the registration exercise for party members which began on Monday.
According to him, “APC is going to be a party that has national strength and would be an alternative to our people. To that extent, it will rev up the polity, it will rejuvenate the political situation of Nigeria, and it will allow people to belong to a strong party that has a chance of giving its service to the people.
“If you look at other developed countries of the world, they don’t have more than two political parties. In any progressive country that is serious, you have a maximum of three big political parties. The party that is in power and the party that is keeping them on their toes, and if they don’t behave well they will be voted out and another party will be tested and tried, so it goes on and on like that. So, as far as APC is concerned, it is a party that has come to stay and no matter the intimidation from any quarters, there is no going back”.
