State Pardon for Alams and Co: It is a normal process done occasionally – Abba Moro

The Federal Government, through the Minister of Interior, Comrade Abba Moro, has defended the President’s decision to exercise the prerogative of mercy in the reported pardon of former Bayelsa State Governor, Deprieye Alamieyeseigha and others, a move that was said to have been approved by the National Council of State on Tuesday.

Speaking to State House correspondents in Abuja on Wednesday on the move, Mr Labaran Maku, maintained that he could not confirm it because he had not been briefed. However, he had a few things to say about it:

“That meeting (NCS) lasted very late yesterday. The truth is that the prerogative of mercy, granting of pardon is a normal process which the National Council of States does occasionally to all manner of people who were interjected in the past including prisoners, including those who had committed the highest crime against the country,” he said.

  1. State pardon for others is understandable but for Alams is too bad. Jonathan is further encouraging corruption in high places.May GOD save us.

  2. i think d president had done d rightin by pardon dose he did,let have dis habit of 4giveness so dat God can as well 4give us,most of us we did d wost tin den dat of alamese,GJ has d right 2 do so,let live sentiment aside.

  3. Forgiveness is for the repentant heart. Many stole government money in a scandalous manner and they are forgiven. Let men forgive thieves for political reason I know God will judge everyone righteously and money stolen that brings hardship to Nigerians will bring sorrow and hardship to their families and generations unborn. Food will become gravel in their mouth while whatever they purchase for pleasure with stolen money will bring pressure to their families.
